New B&M Store in Wood Green Shopping Centre Creates 100 Jobs for Locals

Wood Green Shopping Centre in North London welcomed brand new B&M store into their community this morning at 8am on Saturday 4^th May 2024. Store colleagues welcomed customers in after the store was officially opened by the B&M team and their nominated charity, North London Samaritans.

With a boost to the local economy, the launch of this brand-new B&M store has provided locals with 100 jobs alongside a wide range of branded groceries and products to explore.

The store manager from B&M Wood Green said: “We’re feeling extremely positive about the creation of more jobs for local people, and we hope customers are delighted with their new store.”

The new B&M Wood Green store has moved into a space of 26,565sqft that was previously inhabited by Wilko and has since undergone an extensive refurbishment programme to bring customers a fantastic new B&M store to shop around.

Customers can expect to find a wide variety of food, drink, pet food and essentials, all for the best possible price. There is also a fantastic selection of quality health & beauty products, homeware, electricals, DIY essentials, toys, games, gifts, and plenty more to discover.

To help unveil the new store, B&M colleagues were asked to nominate a local charity who they think deserves the spotlight for the hard work they do within the community. They chose to give VIP treatment to the team from local charity North London Samaritans, who took centre stage at the grand opening to officially open the doors to the B&M Wood Green store.

North London Samaritans have been based in London N11 since 1975 with around 100 volunteers. Every year, this branch alone provides emotional support to more than 10,000 callers, a large proportion of whom are experiencing profound feelings of distress and despair. North London Samaritans are available for anyone who is suffering to cope or needs someone to listen without judgement or pressure. Samaritans give people ways to cope and the skills to be there for others. They encourage, promote, and celebrate those moments of connection between people that can save lives.

The store manager of B&M Wood Green commented: “North London Samaritans really stood out for us, so we wanted to give them some VIP treatment as a thank you for all the hard work that they have done. We hope that our donation can help them to continue the great work they do.”
