24 January 2017

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and that means that thousands of couples around the world will be planning how to celebrate. What will you choose? A romantic dinner at a posh restaurant? A movie night with a takeaway? Or how about trying something completely different?

Here at B&M, we’re all about trying new things, so we’ve put together a list of some romantic and creative Valentine’s Day date ideas that will surely get your hearts racing. Mwah!

Who says ghosts only come out in October? For a Valentine’s Day date you’ll never forget, bring out your inner medium and go looking for translucent ghouls on a ghost hunt. Think spooky robed figures and terrifying poltergeists! This Valentine’s Day treat is certainly not for the faint hearted.

Fright Nights are hosting a special Valentine’s Day ghost hunt at the West Midland’s most haunted house - the Old Oak House Museum. Even if you don’t see any ghostly goings on, it’s sure to be an unforgettable experience… for those who dare enter!

Get cooking!

You can’t go wrong with a romantic meal on Valentine’s Day, but why not make it a bit different this year by cooking together? Creating something delicious with your partner is a sure-fire way to have a real laugh, plus it’s a real chance to show off those culinary skills too!

If you think that cooking together sounds like fun, but neither of you are great at making food - don’t panic! There are loads of really easy dishes that you can make from scratch, which will taste amazing too. Pizzas are great fun to cook, and easy to share - just put some ingredients on a pizza base, toss them in the oven and hey presto! A delicious homemade treat.

Go on your first date… again!

Second first date

A first date always sticks out in any couple’s memory, so why not relive it? This idea is especially amazing if you’ve been together for a few years, as going to the same restaurant / bar / zoo that you went for your first date is sure to reignite that spark!

If you went to the cinema on your first date, rent the film you saw and have a cozy night in. If you went to a restaurant, why not pull out all the stops this time around by getting some champagne or prosecco? The possibilities are endless with this idea, so have fun with it!

Laugh your socks off!

They say that laughter is the language of the soul, we all know that couples who laugh together, stay together. So why not book a comedy show for Valentine’s Day? We’re not talking about paying loads for a big name (although how fantastic would that be?), there are loads of comedy nights featuring smaller comedians that are sure to put smiles on your faces.

Check out the Comedy Store, it has venues up and down the country, and features loads of comedians (plus occasionally a surprise guest!).

Kick back and be pampered!

There are few things more enjoyable than being fully pampered from head to toe, and experiencing this with your partner is just perfection. There are hundreds of Valentine’s Day spa packages out there, some of which have some world-class treatments included in the price. Most of these packages involve an overnight stay in a romantic hotel, so you can unwind in style after your day of bliss!

Stay in a treehouse!

Yes you did read that right. Imagine spending the night in a luxury treehouse with your other half. It’s a great way to get back to nature, and it’s unbelievably romantic to spend a night in the woods with just you, your partner, and the stars. We recommend taking a look at Airbnb - there are loads of amazing treehouses on there all across the UK, and reasonably priced too!
