Get in the Mood for Wimbledon 2018

26 June 2018

If your number one sport is tennis then you'll no doubt be gearing up for the first serve of Wimbledon 2018 (starting Monday 2nd July). Whether you plan on heading to the All England Lawn Tennis Club yourself, or you want to set up your own centre court in the garden, we have everything you need at B&M to start getting in the spirit of things.

From the qualifying stages (starting Monday 25th June) you can catch all your favourite tennis pros. Whether you're rooting for Andy Murray, Roger Federer or Garbiñe Muguruza, the latest installment of the oldest tennis tournament in the world guarantees to be an exciting event to kick off summer 2018.

Get the Lounge Game, Set & Match Ready

Before the first points have been won you might want to rethink your viewing area at home. That’s right, it’s time to declutter your home and make sure your lounge is spotless. For more tips on decluttering, have a read of our summer storage tips here.

Make sure the room is completely clear and you have the TV in full view of the couch (you may even want to pick some more chairs out if you’re planning to have guests). If your television is a little on the small side and you are having friends and family over to watch some matches, you may want to invest in an upgrade. How about our Blaupunkt 40” Smart TV so you can watch each match on a crystal clear screen?

Net Gains

If you enjoy playing tennis as well as watching it then you may want to think about getting fit either at home or at your local tennis club or leisure centre. Setting up some fun tennis activities will be great to get the whole family active and Wimbledon-ready.

Start off by practicing in the garden with our Tennis Set, or you could even take it to your local tennis courts if you have some available. If you aren’t quite up to scratch you may want to pick up some spare Tennis Balls too just in case you hit any too far (oops!). If you start going regularly just make sure you keep yourself energised - it's always handy to have a Lucozade Sport in your tennis bag.

Beginner? Don't worry, we have to start somewhere. Why not pick up our Lite All Surface Swingball for some summer fun in the garden? Not only will you burn some energy but you can also give your little ball boys and girls a break from collecting loose tennis balls. Last but not least, make sure no one misses out on the fun and grab some Mini Throw & Fetch Tennis Balls to entertain the dog.

Practice Your Serve

If you plan on having friends and family to visit, you might want to think about what you can put out for them to eat and drink if they are staying for the whole match.

Make sure you’re the perfect Wimbledon host or hostess and put out plenty of snacks within reaching distance of the sofa (at least close enough so you can keep your eyes on the action!). As for what to drink, surely there's only one option? Mix up a jug of Pimms and Lemonade and serve with ice and chopped fresh fruit.

Charge those glasses and get settled in for a fantastic afternoon cheering on your favourite tennis star with friends and family!
