Presents made from Scraps!

What you’ll need:

  • Squares of patterned paper (feel free to use leftover wrapping paper!)

  • Glue

  • String (you can dye this red or leave it beige for a more rustic effect)

  • Computer

  • Printer

Do you often have lots of leftover wrapping paper once you’ve finished wrapping everyone’s presents? Well, rather than throwing it away, you can use it to create some unique and quirky Christmas cards. Like other handmade projects, the beauty of making cards yourself is that you make the rules, so the rather Americanised ‘Happy Holidays’ on this creation can be replaced by ‘Merry Christmas’, and the presents can be any shape, size and colour you wish. You could even have a go at making a wrapping paper Christmas tree if you’re feeling extra crafty!

Button Wreath

What you’ll need:

  • White card

  • Glue

  • Buttons!

Most households will have spare buttons lying around, some even have a whole drawer dedicated to them! Now you can actually put them to good use and turn them into a stylish Christmas card that’s sure to be a hit with the family. Feel free to mix and match with the button designs too, why not try some patterned buttons, or even long ones to make a square present instead of a wreath?

Rudolph the Pom-Pom-Nosed Reindeer!

What you’ll need:

  • An antlers stamp OR a marker pen to draw on the antlers

  • Googly eyes

  • Glue

  • A bright red pom-pom

  • Red card

  • White card

How cute is this little reindeer card? It couldn't be easier to make, either. Like always, you don’t have to stop at a reindeer, why not use two white pom-poms to make a snowman? Or draw a Christmas tree and have pom-pom baubles? The possibilities are endless with this handmade card idea.

Pretty Paper Trees

What you’ll need:

  • Card (any colour will do!)

  • Sheets of patterned paper

  • Glue

  • Thick brown card for the tree trunk

  • Felt

The instructions for these cards are in picture form, but they’re still easy to follow. We love the contemporary take on the classic Christmas tree, and you could use a variety of patterns for these. In fact, you could even get a photo of Father Christmas, or another Christmas scene, and use that instead of the pieces of patterned paper for a unique effect.

Natural Green Wreath

What you’ll need:

  • Card (we think natural colours look best!)

  • Plant cuttings

  • Computer

  • Printer

  • Hot glue

  • Glue gun

What better way to combine Christmas and nature than to use some plant cuttings on your homemade Christmas cards? It might sound like it would be difficult to make, but this card is actually really simple! You could go with some evergreen plant cuttings, or you could go for some actual holly cuttings if you’re feeling extra festive - it is Christmas after all!
