B&M Baileygate Opens its Doors

11 November 2016

B&M continued its recent growth on Friday with the opening of another new store, this time in Pontefract.

The new B&M Bargains store with Garden Centre has replaced the former Carpet Right on South Baileygate Retail Park, allowing easy access for shoppers.

Visitors to the store will be able to browse the retailer’s wide variety of branded and own label products including toys, food & drink and seasonal ranges.

The Garden centre will also be fully stocked with all gardening essentials to keep green fingered shoppers happy.

More than 50 jobs were created for local people as a result of the store opening, bringing a boost to the local economy.

As part of B&M’s Local Hero initiative, representatives from Yorkshire Air Ambulance were invited along to take centre stage.

Yorkshire Air Ambulance, relies on the generosity of individuals and organisations to help save lives across Yorkshire.

The charity currently operates two helicopters and attends over 1,300 missions a year, an average of 3 incidents every single day.

To keep both of Yorkshire’s air ambulances in the air they need to raise £12,000 per day.

In addition to opening the store, the charity also received £250 as a thank you for taking part.

Sam Wood, store manager at B&M Baileygate said: “The team from Yorkshire Air Ambulance really stood out for us as they go the extra mile for the community - we wanted to give them some VIP treatment as a thank you for all the hard work they do.

“We hope that our donation can help them to continue the great work they do.”

She also commented: “The new team have been working really hard to get the store ready for opening day and we couldn’t wait to get the doors open today and show customers their new B&M.”

Also attending the event was the local deputy mayor, Councillor Kevin Barker, who gratefully accepted an invitation to attend.

A facepainter will also be appearing in store on Saturday to transform customers into their favourite super heroes, animals or characters.
