B&M Thrilled to Announce Brand New Store in Cathedral Lanes Shopping Centre

02 February 2024

In a welcome boost to the local economy, B&M are thrilled to announce the launch of its brand-new store in Cathedral Lanes Shopping Centre, Coventry. The launch of the store will create 35 jobs for local people.

The discount retailer has taken possession of a previous Wilko store which provides a space of 18,120sqft. and has undergone an extensive internal and external refurbishment programme before officially opening its doors at 8am on Friday 2nd February.

Customers can expect to find a wide variety of branded groceries for the best possible price including a range of food, drink and pet food. There will also be a fantastic selection of quality health and beauty products, homeware, electricals, DIY, toys, games, gifts, and plenty more to explore.

The colleagues were asked to nominate a local charity they think truly deserves some VIP treatment for the work they do in their local community. They chose the team from Coventry Foodbank to take centre stage and officially unveil the new B&M Store.

Coventry Foodbank do not think that anyone in the community should have to face going hungry. That’s why they provide three days’ worth of nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them in a crisis. There is normally a foodbank centre open somewhere in the City of Coventry 6 days a week as it distributes through 13 partner churches. They work in partnership for achieving the joint aim of stopping hunger in the local area. They fed over 34,500 people throughout the Covid Pandemic up to March 2021.

The store manager from B&M said: “Coventry Foodbank really stood out for us, so we wanted to give them some VIP treatment as a thank you for all the hard work that they have done. We hope that our donation can help them to continue the great work they do.”

The store manager also commented: “We’re feeling extremely positive about the creation of more jobs for local people, and we hope customers are going to be delighted with their new store.”

Additionally, Cllr Jim O’Boyle cabinet member for jobs, regeneration and climate change was delighted to hear about B&M’s new store opening in Cathedral Lanes Shopping Centre and added: “It’s great news that B&M are moving into the former Wilko unit, and I’m pleased that it has all happened quickly as it’s such a busy and thriving location. I wish the team every success for the opening and beyond and it’s lovely to see that the team has decided to support a local charity too.”
