Big Boom for Bude after B&M Opens in Town

08 February 2017

There was a boom for Bude on Wednesday after B&M opened a brand new store in the town.

The new Bargain and Garden Centre has come as a welcome boost for the local economy, creating more than 80 jobs for local people.

The store on Binhamy Retail Park has undergone a complete internal and external transformation, to ensure customers enjoy their experience in the store.

Visitors to the store can expect to find a wide variety of branded products including toys, food & drink, pet range, health & beauty and homewares.

The addition of a garden centre will also ensure keen gardeners won’t be feeling left out.

As part of B&M’s Local Hero program, representatives from the Bude Area Toy Library were invited to cut the ribbon and receive £250 worth of B&M vouchers as a thank you.

A B&M Local Hero can be any group or individual who has made an important contribution to their local community, and is chosen by the B&M store colleagues.

The Toy Library is a great resource for babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers, enabling them to play and borrow new toys so they’re always able to create new adventures.

Also in attendance at the store opening was the Mayor of Bude, Councillor Lea Deely who gratefully accepted an invitation to attend the day’s events.

A spokesperson from B&M said: “We’ve been feeling really positive about the creation of new jobs for local people and we hope customers are going to be delighted with their new store.

“We’ve all been really excited to get the doors open and welcome our new customers through the doors today.”

The Bude store opening follows hot on the heels of St Austell, Redruth, Truro and Penzance, with B&M creating more than 400 jobs in the county in the last two years.
