Black Friday Kicks Off Successful 1st Day for New Inverness Store

25 November 2016

Shoppers in Inverness had cause to celebrate as B&M combined its latest store opening with its 10% Black Friday offer.

Located on Inshes Retail Park, the new B&M store was proud to offer its new customers a fantastic opening day offer, with 10% off* across the store as part of the retailer’s Black Friday promotion.

The Bargains Store with Garden Centre stocks a large selection of products from toys and grocery to pets and DIY, as well as a blossoming garden range.

The brand new store has created more than 60 jobs for local people, as well as 20 Christmas temp roles. Together with the nearby Home Store on Telford Retail Park which opened in July 2015, the variety retailer has created over 140 jobs in the Scottish city.

To help celebrate the occasion, representatives from The Archie Foundation were invited by store staff to be part of their special day.

The foundation provides specialist equipment for sick children and their families in a comfortable and friendly environment, making their time in hospital less scary, and more fun.

As a thank you for taking part in the opening ceremony, the charity received £250 worth of B&M vouchers.

The store was officially opened by Depute Provost, Councillor Jean Slater who cut the ribbon to declare the new B&M store ‘open’.

Store manager, Suzanne Lodge, said: “We’re feeling really positive about the creation of new jobs for local people and feedback on the new store has been great so far.

“It’s been fantastic opening on Black Friday, customers can’t believe that the offer is across all products in store so they’re stocking up on everything they need for Christmas, now.”

Simon Arora, CEO at B&M, said: “This year we’ve gone with an overall saving on everything rather than bogus Black Friday deals and gimmicks. Shoppers have cottoned on to the fact that other retailers’ supposed discounts aren’t real.

“We also don’t want our customers to panic buy and pick up products that they don’t actually want or need so we’ve knocked 10% off everything – that way they can save on lots of things.

“Whether it’s the Christmas presents they’ve already got on their list, or something they’ve had their eye on for a while now such as a speaker, coffee machine, TV, or even just on their regular B&M shop – everything from baked beans through to tooth paste.”

The variety retailer is one of the fastest growing in the UK with more than 500 stores across the country, selling everything from grocery, toys and electricals to homewares, DIY and furniture.

*excludes kiosk, cigarettes & tobacco, lottery tickets & scratchcards, and SIM cards. Excludes alcohol in Scotland. Not to be used for high volume purchases. Offer ends at close of trade 25/11/16.
