Clevedon Celebrates New B&M Store Opening

30 June 2016

There were celebrations in Clevedon on Thursday as a long awaited B&M store opened in the town.

The new B&M Bargains Store has created 60 jobs for local people, continuing the retailer's focus on boosting employment in local communities.

Based at the former Morrison’s on Great Western Road, the new store will feature B&M’s ranges of branded and own label products, including groceries, home furnishings and DIY.

As part of B&M’s Local Hero initiative, representatives from Clevedon Pride were invited along to cut the ribbon on opening day.

A B&M Local Hero is chosen by store colleagues and can be an individual or organisation who has made an important contribution to their local area.

Clevedon Pride are a volunteer organisation dedicated to the regeneration and improvement of Clevedon Town Centre.

David Jones, store manager at B&M Clevedon said: “The team at Clevedon Pride volunteer and work tirelessly each week litter picking; repairing vandalism; gardening and generally with the upkeep of the town centre, Queen Square and the car park.

“We just wanted to say thank you for all their hard work and give them a little VIP treatment on opening morning.”

As well as taking part in the opening ceremony, the group also received £250 worth of B&M vouchers as a thank you for participating in the day’s events.

Mr Jones also spoke of his delight at finally opening the new Clevedon B&M store.

He said: “We’re really excited to have opened the doors and to have welcomed shoppers into their new store.”

The opening of Clevedon comes hot on the heels of another B&M opening in Bridgewater earlier this month, bringing the total number of jobs created by the variety retailer to more than 200 this year alone.
