Covid-19 £1 million Foodbank Support

20 March 2020

We are very supportive of the efforts the Government and Health Service are making to keep us all safe. B&M is particularly grateful for the custom of the shoppers who have turned to us this last week.

We are proud to be a part of the communities in which we trade. B&M appreciates that many households in these communities will be facing extreme hardship due to the current crisis. As a community retailer with over 670 stores across the country, we would like to do our little bit to help people get through this.

Each of our stores is authorised to provide a local foodbank with a £1,500 donation, so they can buy essential groceries, cleaning goods and toiletries. The foodbank needs to be a registered charity and one foodbank per store is eligible.

Please email foodbank@bmstores.co.uk with details of your foodbank, stating the registered charity number, the registered address and the full name of the representative authorised to collect the donation. Please also state your preferred nearby B&M branch that you wish to visit. We will then reply on how to access the donation.

We would ask that the purchases be spread out across 3 or 4 visits, so that our stores can keep stocks flowing. Our stores typically get a new delivery every single day and, if the purchases are sensibly spread out, this should not affect availability for our other shoppers, including the elderly and vulnerable.

Finally, we applaud everyone who works or volunteers at a foodbank. Thank you for the wonderful work you do.

Regards

The B&M Team
