Food Banks Benefit From New B&M Store in Beccles

22 November 2014

One of the UK’s fastest growing variety retailers, B&M opened it’s doors on the site of former Family Bargains on George Westwood Way.

Shoppers can expect a huge variety of goods from the brand new Home Store & Garden Centre; from groceries and household essentials to home furniture and garden and seasonal ranges.

To help celebrate the store opening, the local community nominated a ‘Local Hero’; someone known locally for their charity work or service to the town. Lord Mayor of Beccles, Caroline Topping was nominated and invited to cut the ribbon to officially open the new store.

As a thank you, B&M awarded £250 worth of vouchers and Mrs Topping will be distributing this between her chosen causes who were also present on Friday to cut the ribbon.

Among those supported by the Lord Mayor are Beccles RAF Cadets, Beccles Sea Cadets and Waveney Stardust. Two local food banks were also put forward by Mrs Topping as causes worthy of the vouchers.

Darren Chapman B&M’s Store Manager at Beccles said: “We wanted a true VIP to officially open our new store and what better way than to ask customers to nominate those who make a real difference to people’s lives in and around Beccles”.
