Good Friday for B&M as New Burton upon Trent Store Opens

14 April 2017

It was a Good Friday for B&M as the retailer officially cut the ribbon at its new Burton upon Trent store.

The brand new Homestore and Garden Centre has created more than 60 jobs for local people, which comes as a welcome boost to the local economy.

The new store is based on Horninglow Street, at the site of the former Poundland clearance store, allowing for easy access for eager shoppers.

Visitors to the store can expect to find a wide variety of branded products including toys, food & drink and homewares.

The store also boasts an extensive DIY, decorating and furniture range as well as a Garden Centre to provide everything keen gardeners need.

Representatives from Burton Albion Community Trust were invited along to help open the store, as part of B&M’s Local Hero initiative - given to a charity or organisation which has made an important contribution to their local community.

The charity provides help to the local community in key areas such as education, health, disability and much more.

They help to support local projects and local people, with their variety of themed programmes enabling BACT to be an influential partner in all aspects of the local community.

The charity also received £250 worth of B&M vouchers as a thank you for taking the part in the opening day celebrations.

Also helping to open the store was Mayor of East Staffordshire, Councillor Beryl Toon, who gratefully accepted an invitation to attend.

Martin Chadbourne, store manager at B&M Horninglow, said: “The team from Burton Albion Community Trust really stood out for us as they go the extra mile for the community.

“We wanted to give them some VIP treatment as a thank you for all the hard work they do.”

He also commented: “The new team had been working really hard to get the store ready for opening day and we couldn’t wait to get the doors open and show customers their new B&M Burton on Trent.”

Customers are also able to enter the B&M Big Prize Bonanza on Saturday, a free game show taking place at the store to carry the opening day atmosphere on into the weekend.

Those who entered are in with a chance of winning prizes including a Slow Cooker, B&M vouchers, Cadbury’s Chocolates and much more.
