Local Heroes Open New B&M Store in Redditch

15 October 2014

B&M has created another 70 jobs in Redditch after opening a new shop within the town. The finishing touches were completed on time, to the 34,000 sq ft store on the Abbey Retail Park which then opened on Saturday 11th October and two deserving members of the community were given the chance to be a VIP for the morning.

The search was for a local hero to open the new B&M Homestore and Garden Centre; heroes were nominated by friends, family or work colleagues and could be someone who makes life better for people in the area, works hard for a particular cause or is renowned for their charity work.

Mark Edmonds B&M’s Store Manager at Redditch Brockhill said: “We wanted a true VIP to officially open our new store and what better way than to ask customers to nominate those who make a real difference to people’s lives in and around Redditch”.

“We were not judging by age or the type of support, we just wanted someone who goes that extra mile and who we could give something back to for a change”.

The eventual winners were Robert and Maggie Underwood a husband and wife who were overwhelmingly nominated by the community for their work in founding and establishing the Redditch Safe Heart Charity.

The worthy winners also received £250 worth of vouchers to spend in store.
