New Somerset Store Gives County Jobs Boost
B&M proudly opened its latest store in Somerset, creating 60 new jobs for local people.
The variety retailer is one of the fastest growing in the UK and has now expanded its reach in the south-west with a new store in Burnham-on-Sea.
Conveniently located on Pier Street at the site of the former Morrisons, the B&M Bargains store will stock a great range of products from toys and grocery to homeware, DIY, and much more.
And to help celebrate the occasion, representatives from the Burnham-on-Sea branch of RNLI were invited by store staff to be part of their special day.
The RNLI provide an on call, 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service around the UK, with the local branching covering the area around the River Parrett and Bridgwater Bay.
As a thank you for taking part in the opening ceremony, the charity received £250 worth of B&M vouchers.
Dennis Chick, store manager of B&M Burnham-on-Sea, said: “The RNLI crew really stood out for us as they go the extra mile for the community. We wanted to give them some VIP treatment as a thank you for all the hard work they do.
“We hope that our donation can help them to continue the great work they do.”
The store was officially opened by the mayor of Burnham-on-Sea & Highbridge Town Council, Councillor Michael Clarke who cut the ribbon to declare the new B&M store ‘open’.
The new store follows hot on the heels of store openings at Bridgwater and Clevedon, creating more than 140 jobs in the Somerset area.
Store manager Chick added: “We’re feeling really positive about the creation of new jobs for local people and we hope customers are going to be delighted with their new store.
“We are all really excited to get the doors open and show customers their new B&M Burnham-on-Sea.”
