B&M brought Christmas shows to children with additional support needs

06 December 2017 - Scotland Charity News

B&M have donated £20,000 to support special performances of Christmas theatre shows for children in Edinburgh with moderate to complex support needs.

Thanks to the donation the Festival and King’s Theatres have hosted ‘relaxed performances’ for local school children, where special adjustments were made to the sound effects and lighting to make the performance perfect for children who are sometimes troubled by loud noises and bright lights. Big screens in the foyers even live stream the event so that children who want to take a break from the auditorium don’t miss the show.

Head of Creativity and Diversity, Cerin Richardson, said: “Huge thanks to B&M for supporting our relaxed performances. Their donation made a day to remember for hundreds of Edinburgh school children.

“Without these performances, it’s very likely the children wouldn’t be able to go to see a show at Christmas, and it’s through the generosity of B&M and all our supporters that we can ensure ‘theatre for all’.
