How to Create the Ultimate Spa Day at Home for Mother’s Day

07 March 2022

DIY Mother's Day

Instead of having a last-minute panic, frantically looking for the right gift for your mum, plan the perfect spa day at home this Mother’s Day.

Our mums are always busy. So give your mum the gift of a perfect excuse to put their feet up and truly relax.

Save them from rushing around, and encourage them to sit down for once with a Mother’s Day spa day at home. Having their favourite parts of a spa day right in their own living room is hard to say no to - not to mention relaxing in their own robes that no one else has worn!

Creating a zen environment for your mum to relax in gives you both the opportunity to catch up, and treat yourselves to some much needed TLC.

The Perfect Products for Your Spa Day at Home

Before you begin, remove any potential stress-inducing factors from your chosen ‘spa room’. Your mum doesn’t want to see any mess hanging around, so clear everything away and replace it with some relaxing candles and soft lighting.

This includes people too! Either clear out the kids or pop a note on the door to let everyone know the spa has a guest and quiet is needed.

Add in some soothing scents using reed diffusers or essential oils, play relaxing music, some fresh snacks and you’re good to go.

DIY Skincare Treatments for Your Spa Day at Home

The day-to-day grind can have a real impact on our skin, so start off with a detoxifying face mask. Let the stresses of the day melt away as you gently apply the face mask and wipe it away to reveal glowy skin.

Once it’s been wiped away, you can give your mum a super relaxing facial massage. Simply add a small amount of coconut oil to your fingertips and gently rub it into your mum’s face in circular motions.

If there are any pesky blackheads lingering after the face mask, or it’s simply been a while since your mum has had time for some skincare, add a nose pore strip. These sit on the bridge of your nose and draw out any blackheads and stubborn dirt and grime to provide a more even texture.

Your spa day at home for Mother’s Day doesn’t have to lack luxury. DIY spa treatments can be just as fancy as the real deal with the right products. Grab a gold hydrogel lip mask and let the collagen sink in - perfect for the colder months when our lips can get dry and chapped.

Treat Those Feet!

Our mums are always rushed off of their feet, so make sure to turn the focus to pampering them during their spa day this Mother’s Day.

A pedicure set is perfect for freshening up your mum’s feet and making her feel truly pampered. Pop a foot pack on your mum’s feet to moisturise them, and have her put her feet up.

To make this experience extra relaxing, have some wax melts releasing some calming scents and rub the mask into her feet using the same circular motions in her facial massage.

Let Mum Enjoy Her Spa Day at Her Own Pace…

No one wants to count down the last few minutes of a spa day on Mother’s Day, so let your mum decide when it’s over!

Apply a hair mask that is suitable for her hair type and wrap it up in a hair wrap. Then, draw her a bath and add in some scented Epsom salts into the water. Not only will they fill the room with a delicious scent to promote ultimate relaxation, but the salts also work to relax your mum’s tired muscles and ease any remaining tension in her body.

Leave the music playing and top up her refreshments and leave her to indulge in the remainder of her at home spa day this Mother’s Day. Don’t forget to leave some fluffy towels out and a fresh robe for her to snuggle into once she’s ready.

We recommend preparing something delicious for her to tuck into later that evening so she has the complete experience.

Does this spa day at home sound like the perfect Mother’s Day gift for your mum this year? We'd love to see your spa day setups, and all the products you’re treating your mum with! Share your buys with the B&M Community on Facebook, Twitter & Instagram.
