How to Have a Spa Day At Home

30 May 2020

Everyone deserves to be pampered! It helps us to take a break and focus on our mental health, making us happier, more resilient people.

If you’re not able to get out and about, never fear - you can have a relaxing spa day at home! In this article, the team at B&M will tell you how.

Put on a Comfy Outfit

Lovely, silky pajamas or a soft, light, loose fitting dress will be perfect for your DIY spa. You need to avoid any discomfort whatsoever to achieve the greatest possible sense of peace.

B&M Top Tip: Don’t forget to include your comfiest slippers for added cosiness!

Use an Essential Oil Diffuser

Gorgeous scents can really aid in relaxation and make the experience feel all the more personal. Place a reed diffuser or a pretty oil burner in your spa space and fill it with the essential oil of your choice.

B&M Top Tip: Lavender is known to aid in relaxation and a feeling of calm.

Light a Candle

The lovely glow provided by candlelight creates the perfect sense of comfort. Turn down the lights and carefully arrange your candles in safe places for a feeling of real luxury.

Apply a Disposable Eye Mask

Puffy eyes can be caused by allergies, a poor night’s sleep, stress or a variety of other factors. However, it’s easy to soothe your lids with cool eye masks. Apply them as part of a luxurious home facial to reduce redness, swelling and dark circles.

Use a Good Quality Face Mask

Mud packs or sheet masks containing collagen, natural minerals or oils can help to draw out impurities, nourish irritated, dry skin and treat breakouts. They can also help to reduce the signs of aging.

B&M Top Tip: The skin on your nose is one of the worst places for blackheads. Use a nose pore strip as a part of your routine.

Put Good Music On

Choose your favourite calming music to help you unwind and forget about the world. The best sounds depend on your personal preference, but many people prefer slower tracks with few to no lyrics, as this gives your mind a nice break.

Have a Bath

Run a luxurious bath with nice warm water to soak in for a while and let your troubles float away.

B&M Top Tip: Don’t immerse yourself in water that is too hot, as this can dry your skin out.

Go on a hunt for interesting bath and shower sets before your designated spa day. Pick out your favourite bath oils, salts or bombs to nourish your skin and create gorgeous scents.

Use a specialist body scrub to exfoliate your skin while in the bath. Afterwards, use hand cream and a smooth shea butter or coconut oil all-over moisturiser to keep your skin soft and supple.

B&M Top Tip: While you’re treating your skin, why not use the opportunity to focus on your hair too? A hydrating hair mask can leave your locks looking shiny and reduce split ends. Massaging olive oil through your hair and wrapping it up for a while can help too.

For the perfect spa day at home, simply choose the right clothing, set the mood with candles, sounds and scents, pick your favourite skincare products and soak in a lovely warm bath.

B&M Top Tip: Seek out products to suit your skin type by browsing B&M’s great skincare range.
