Say ‘I do’ to Saving Money on Your Wedding with These Creative Cost-Cutting Tips!

27 June 2016

You’re getting married? Congratulations!

Planning a wedding can be a romantic and exciting time, but with what seems like a million details to organise beyond the celebrant, venue and, of course, the all-important dress, costs can quickly spiral out of control.

But, keeping within budget needn’t mean cutting things out. By getting a little creative with your wedding accessories and décor, you could save hundreds of pounds on your big day.

Here’s a few tips on how to do it:

Wedding Planner

Hiring a professional to arrange every detail of your wedding is a luxury that most couples do without, but organising a wedding does require a lot of planning so keep your ideas, costs and budget in order with a wedding planner.

Invites

Fancy invites are very nice but the cost of having them designed, printed, folded and posted out to your guests can run into hundreds of pounds so save money and make your own!

Get your friends round for a natter and an invite-making party, and if you have them, get your children involved too. Your homemade invites might not be as polished as the professional ones but nothing beats the personal touch.

You can find a huge selection of pens, paper, card and craft accessories instore.

Interior Décor

Some wedding venues include decorations in their fee but if not, ask if you can supply your own.

Centrepieces are one of the final finishing touches when dressing a dining hall and our range of wedding accessories includes mirrored plates, candles, decorative crystals and elegant tealight holders that make it easy to give tables a classy and romantic look without breaking the bank.

Lanterns, candles, bunting and hearts are also a cheap and easy way to brighten up any indoor or outdoor space and better yet, they can double-up as wedding favours that you can send on to guests after the big day as a memento that thanks them for their attendance.

Outdoor Celebrations

If you’re getting married outdoors, many companies will charge a fee for furniture hire but it’s possible to save money by supplying some of your own. You’ll find a wide range of garden furniture and outdoor lighting that’s perfect for creating a romantic, al fresco wedding setting in our Summer & Gardening range.

Photography

According to Brides Magazine, newlyweds spend on average £1046 on a wedding photographer – yikes!

Costs do vary depending on the type and number of images you want your photographer to capture so think about this carefully before trying to negotiate a fee.

For any images that are nice but non-essential, get your wedding guests involved! Everyone has a smartphone or camera to hand these days and your friends and family can be relied upon for some brilliant, spontaneous snaps.

With just these few tips you could make real savings and maybe even afford that honeymoon you’d like or, as your mother and mother-in-law-to-be will probably tell you, use the cash to start turning that spare room into a nursery…
