Why B&M is the Best Place to Buy a New Wooden Garden Shed

20 March 2024

If you need a new wooden garden shed, you’re in exactly the right place to find one. That’s because we stock an incredible range of nearly 200 wooden sheds, almost exclusively made by Britain’s leading shed manufacturer – Forest Garden.

Forest sheds are separated into 3 distinct brands: 4Life™, Beckwood and Timberdale, each with their own unique characteristics and selling points.

And within these 3 lines, you’ll find just about every conceivable size of shed, from small 4x3 models through to huge 20x10 garden workshops. There are also sheds with different types of roof, including traditional apex, modern pent, and eye-catching reverse apex styles. What’s more, these designs are available with single or double-door options, as well as various configurations of windows, including windowless models.

Forest Wooden Sheds

Before examining Forest’s 3 separate shed brands, let’s take a look at the amazing features they ALL have in common.

Firstly, every Forest wooden shed is pressure treated and backed by a market-leading 25-year anti-rot guarantee, so further treatment is never required, giving you complete maintenance freedom.

Secondly, these garden sheds all come with a modular design, so they’re delivered to you in smaller sections of interchangeable panels. This results in an easier assembly; a stronger shed, with a thicker frame; and an unprecedented choice of door/ window placements.

Thirdly, Forest sheds are exclusively made in Great Britain, by skilled British craftsmen, from ethically-sourced British wood. Not only does this give you peace of mind that they’re built to exacting standards, it also ensures transportation is kept to a minimum, reducing the sheds’ carbon footprint and benefitting the environment.

Finally, no matter how cheap the shed, Forest will deliver it to you for FREE, using their White Glove Service*. This means the company’s friendly team of professional delivery experts will leave the shed wherever you like in your garden, with all of the product packaging removed.

Choosing the Right Forest Shed

Now we’ve explained what all Forest sheds have in common, let’s take a look at their 3 distinct lines of sheds, in price ascending order, to help determine which one is right for you…

Forest 4Life™: Britian’s Best Cheap Sheds

4Life™ garden sheds are constructed from 7mm overlap cladding. This involves attaching together horizontal wooden boards, with the bottom of each board overlapping the top of the one below. These overlapping horizontal boards are then supported by strong vertical battens.

Overlap cladding is a tried and tested method of building wooden sheds. And, as it’s a cost-effective method for manufacturers to use, they can afford to price their overlap sheds at the bottom end of the market.

However, just because they’re competitively priced doesn’t mean they’re low in quality. In comparison to sheds made by other manufacturers, Forest 4Life™ sheds come with a very high specification, which belies their modest price tags.

The 14mm solid timber boarded floor is supported by pressure-treated bearers, and is some 40% thicker than most shed floors, while the 8mm OSB roof features a high-quality mineral-felt cover for excellent weatherproof protection.

In terms of the doors and windows, the former are ledged, braced and come with a hasp and staple plate, ready for you to add your own padlock. The latter are made from PET, which is lightweight, shatterproof, and far safer than standard shed glazing.

And if you buy a Forest 4Life™ shed through B&M now, we’ll throw a FREE key safe into the bargain.

Forest Beckwood: Weather-Beating Garden Storage

Made from stylish shiplap cladding, Beckwood is Forest’s midmarket range of wooden sheds. Here’s what you get for that little bit of extra money…

Shiplap cladding involves locking together the wooden boards, using rabbets in their profiles. This creates a tight, interlocking seal, which is exceptionally weathertight – a definite upgrade from 4Life™ overlap models.

What’s more, Beckwood’s 12mm shiplap cladding is far thicker than 4Life™ shed walls, and rounded off with a smooth-planed finish for an incredibly attractive appearance.

There’s a noticeable upgrade with Beckwood sheds’ flooring too, which is made from premium tongue and groove, renowned for its strength, style and weatherproof qualities.

As for the doors and windows – well, the former come with a pad bolt for even greater shed security, while the latter are made from 3mm acrylic. This combines the shatterproof benefits of PET with the crystal-clear qualities of real glass.

To further distinguish Beckwood from Forest’s other brands, we’re currently giving away a FREE shed solar light when you buy your shed through us.

Forest Timberdale: Britain’s Best Wooden Sheds

If you’re someone for whom only the best will do, Forest Timberdale are the sheds for you. In fact, we have no hesitation in naming them as Britain’s best range of wooden sheds.

These sheds’ superior quality starts with their 12mm tongue and groove cladding, which is universally accepted as the best way to seamlessly join together wooden boards to form a single flat surface.

One horizontal edge of each board is designed with a thin, deep ridge, the other with a slot. The boards are then tightly locked together by placing the ridge of one into the slot of its neighbour. Tongue and groove forms an even neater, sleeker, stronger seal than shiplap, which is why it’s regarded as the premier form of cladding.

And in keeping with their superior quality, Timberdale sheds don’t just include tongue and groove walls, they boast a 12mm tongue and groove floor AND roof too! The roof also features a top-of-the-range 140g reinforced-polyester mineral felt cover for unbeatable weatherproof protection.

Timberdale sheds’ other exclusive features are doubled-up 33mm framing, which is the thickest framing found on any of our wooden sheds; a rim lock and key, for yet greater security; and opening windows, made from 4mm toughened safety glass.

And as we’re currently supplying a FREE Yale shed alarm with every shed purchased, it’s safe to say that your new Timberdale shed will enjoy unparalleled levels of security.
