B&M Creates 50 Jobs for Locals with Brand New Store in Hamilton

11 October 2025

At 8am on Saturday 11th October 2025, B&M store colleagues gathered around outside their brand-new store in Palace Grounds Retail Park, Hamilton, to officially open the store and welcome in their first customers.

They were joined by local charity, Hamilton District Foodbank, who marked the occasion with a ceremonial ribbon cutting before the doors were officially opened to the public.

Due to the launch of this exciting new store, B&M is significantly boosting the local economy by providing locals with 50 new jobs alongside the nation’s favourite big brands for a bargain price.

B&M’s store manager commented: “We’re feeling extremely positive about the creation of more jobs for local people, and we hope customers are going to be delighted with their new store.”

The new store in Palace Grounds Retail Park resides in a unit previously inhabited by Homebase and has undergone an extensive refurbishment programme to bring about a sales space of 31,974sqft.

Customers can expect to find a wide variety of branded groceries for the best possible price including a range of food, drink, and pet food. There is also a fantastic selection of quality health & beauty products, homeware, electricals, DIY essentials, toys, games, gifts, and plenty more to explore.

Aside from amazing bargains indoors, the store also boasts its own 12,145sqft garden centre, selling hundreds of plant varieties and gardening essentials for green fingered locals.

For the grand opening, colleagues were asked to nominate a local charity who they think deserves the spotlight for all the hard work they do in the community. They chose the team from Hamilton District Foodbank to take centre stage and make the celebration that extra bit special.

Hamilton District Foodbank supports local people in times of crisis, providing emergency food and compassionate support when it is needed most. Through three days’ nutritionally balanced supplies and a listening ear, it helps individuals and families facing hardship to find stability and hope. As part of the Trussel Trust network, Hamilton District Foodbank works alongside local partners and referral agencies to tackle poverty, reduce hunger, and ensure no one in the community has to go without life’s essentials.
