B&M Creates 50 Jobs for Locals with Brand New Store in Tunbridge Wells, Kent

24 May 2025

This morning at 8am on Saturday 24th May, B&M store colleagues gathered around outside their brand-new store to celebrate the grand opening and welcome in their first customers.

Located in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, the discount retailer has taken possession of a former Homebase store that now offers a sales floor of 6,781sqft. after undergoing extensive internal and external development.

The launch of this new B&M store serves as a significant boost to the local economy, creating 50 new jobs for local people and providing the community with an exciting range of products to shop.

The store manager of B&M Tunbridge commented: “We’re excited to become a part of the Tunbridge community and feel extremely positive about the creation of more jobs for local people. We hope this new store exceeds customers’ expectations.”

Customers can now visit B&M Tunbridge Wells and find a wide variety of branded groceries for the best possible price including a range of food, drink, and pet food. There is also a fantastic selection of quality health & beauty products, homeware, electricals, DIY essentials, toys, games, gifts, and plenty more to explore.

The store also boasts its own 4,859sqft. garden centre, selling hundreds of plant varieties, garden essentials, and goodies for green-fingered locals.

For the grand opening of the new B&M Tunbridge Wells Store, colleagues were asked to nominate a local charity who they think deserves the spotlight for all the hard work they do for the local community. They chose the team from Nourish Community Foodbank to take centre stage and officially unveil the new store with a ceremonial ribbon cut.

Nourish Community Foodbank supports people in need by delivering emergency food and supplies across Tunbridge Wells borough, South Tunbridge, and surrounding areas. Last year, Nourish Community Foodbank provided almost 160,000 meals to people in food crisis. They are a lifeline that shows people care, with donations of food and money from people in the community allowing Nourish to support local people who are struggling.

The store manager of B&M endorsed: “Nourish Community Foodbank really stood out for us, so we wanted to give them some VIP treatment as a thank you for all the hard work that they have done.”
