B&M Relocates to Bigger and Better Store in Halifax
21 June 2025
This morning at 8am on Saturday 21st June 2025, B&M store colleagues gathered outside their brand-new Halifax store to welcome in their first customers after a long-awaited relocation.
After receiving feedback from regular shoppers that they wanted a bigger store with even more products and bargains, the B&M team made the decision to give locals the store they deserve at an even bigger unit in West Gate House, Market Street, Halifax.
The new store is much bigger as promised, with over 10,278sqft. of sales space and a wider range of exciting products for customers to shop.
B&M’s store manager said: “We wanted a bigger and better store for our customers, giving them even more big, branded products.”
The unit in question is a former Tesco Express store, only a stone’s throw away from the previous location. Customers didn’t have to wait long to get back into their favourite discount store, as the new unit had already been extensively refurbished to bring customers the B&M layout that they know and love.
Following its relocation, this new unit will not only significantly boost the local economy but has also created 17 new jobs for local people.
The store manager for B&M commented: “We’re feeling extremely positive about the creation of more jobs for local people, and we hope customers are going to be delighted with their new store.”
For the grand opening of the new unit, store colleagues were asked to nominate a local charity who they think deserves the spotlight for all the hard work they do in the community. They chose the team from St. Augustine’s Centre Foodbank to take centre stage and officially open the new store with a ceremonial ribbon cut.
St. Augustine’s Centre Foodbank supports local people in crisis by providing emergency food parcels and essential supplies across the local community. Each week, the centre gives out food to individuals and families experiencing hardship, offering a vital safety net in difficult times. Last year, the foodbank supported hundreds of people who were struggling to make ends meet. Thanks to generous donations of food, money, and time from local community, St. Augustine’s can provide practical help when it’s needed most.
B&M’s store manager also commented: “St’ Augustine’s Centre really stood out for us, so we wanted to give them some VIP treatment as a thank you for all the hard work that they have done. We hope that our donation can help them to continue the great work they do.”
