B&M's 3rd Bristol Store in 12 Months Brings More Jobs

02 May 2015

B&M has created another 85 jobs in Bristol after the opening of a new store in the city.

The third store to open in Bristol in the past 12 months comes on the back of recent openings at Abbeywood and South Bristol retail parks, bringing a total of 200 jobs to the city.

One of the UK's fastest growing retailers, B&M's latest store is based at the former Kiddicare in Cribbs Causeway, conveniently located on Centaurus Road.

As part of B&M’s Local Hero initiative, St Peter’s Hospice were invited as the retailer's VIP guests to cut the ribbon and offically mark the opening of the new store.

The award is given to an individual or organisation who has made an impact on the local community through their hard work and dedication.

St Peter’s Hospice is Bristol’s only adult hospice caring for more than 2,670 life-limited patients each year as well as supporting family members.

Although the service is provided at no cost to patients, the cost of care is £18,630 per day of which around £14,000 is needed to be raised through public generosity.

The Hospice was nominated by store colleagues themselves and will receive £250 worth of B&M vouchers, to cap a memorable day.

Edd Smith, corporate fundraiser at St Peter’s, said: “It is wonderful that the new B&M in Cribbs Causeway has decided to support us at its opening.

“Without kind support from local organisations we would not be able to continue to care for those who need our help in Bristol.

“We’ve been looking forward to today's opening, and hope the store is a great success!”

Customers at Bristol's new Home Store can expect a wide variety of branded and own label products, such as groceries and toiletries, as well as an extensive non-food section including toys, home, electrical and seasonal ranges.

Chris Robinson, store manager at B&M Cribbs Causeway said: “B&M is committed to recruiting from the local area and I am delighted we’ve found a great team from in and around Cribbs Causeway.

“We’re really proud to be creating another 85 jobs across Bristol this year and continuing to play our part in the local community.”

Chris added: “We are excited to open our doors today and honoured to have representatives from St Peter’s Hospice cut the ribbon to officially mark the opening of our new store.”
