B&M Thrilled With New Store & Garden Centre in Oldbury

Oldbury’s shoppers will have the opportunity to choose from thousands of products at amazing prices as B&M officially opens its new store on Birchley Retail Park.

Creating more than 55 jobs for locals, the new 17,278 sq. ft. store – formally a Toys ‘R’ Us – offers customers a wide variety of branded groceries at common-sense prices including food, drink and pet food.

There will also be a huge range of high-quality health and beauty products, homeware, electricals, DIY essentials, toys, games, gifts and more.

Customers will also have the opportunity to explore the new store’s 5,384 sq. ft. garden centre, selling hundreds of plant varieties and gardening essentials in time for summer.

Ahead of the new store opening, colleagues were asked to nominate a local charity they think truly deserves some VIP treatment for the huge difference they make to the community.

B&M colleagues chose the team at Smethwick Foodbank to take centre stage and officially unveil the new B&M store.

Smethwick Foodbank is a project founded by local churches and community groups, working together to stop hunger in Oldbury.

They provide three days of nutritionally-balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred in crisis.

The charity is part of a nationwide network of food banks supported by The Trussell Trust working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

The store manager at B&M Oldbury said: “Our colleagues have been working really hard to get the store ready for today's opening day.

“Smethwick Foodbank charity really stood out for us so we wanted to give them some VIP treatment as a thank you for all the hard work that they have done, especially during the pandemic. We hope that our donation can help them to continue the great work.

Speaking after the opening, a B&M spokesperson said: “We’re feeling extremely positive about the creation of more jobs for local people and we hope customers are going to be delighted with their new store.”
