Good News for Newtownards as New B&M Opens in Town

23 September 2016

B&M Shoppers in Newtownards were excited to see the launch of the town’s newest B&M store.

The brand new B&M Bargains store is located in Unit 1 of Ards Shopping Centre, allowing easy access to the retailer’s wide range of branded and own label products.

Visitors to the store will be able to browse groceries, toys, pet products and much more.

The new B&M has replaced the Regent Street store, which closed on Saturday 17th September, with all staff from the previous store moving to the new one.

Approximately 24 staff have been recruited for the store, with all of the Regent Street staff retaining their jobs.

McMillan Cancer Care were chosen as B&M’s Local Hero, given to an individual or organisation who has made a profound impact on their community.

The charity aim to make sure there’s always someone there to give the support, energy and inspiration needed to help cancer sufferers feel more like themselves.

As well as cutting the ribbon on the new store, the Charity were also awarded £250 worth of B&M vouchers as a thank you for taking part.

Also appearing on opening day was Alderman Mrs Deborah Girvan, who helped to add extra prestige to the event.

Claire Ballantine, store manager at B&M Newtownards, said: “We’ve felt really positive about the creation of new jobs for local people and we hope customers are going to be delighted with their new store.

“We have all been really excited to get the doors open and welcome our new customers through the doors today.”

B&M Newtownards follows hot on the heels of the recent B&M store opening on Cregagh Road, bringing the total number of jobs created by B&M in the area to more than 50 in the last year.
