Hospice Helps Open New B&M Store in Colne

18 April 2015

B&M has created 30 jobs in Colne after opening a new Bargains store in the town.

Based at the former Boundary Mill on Corporation Street, the store will provide local residents with B&M’s wide variety of branded and own label products.

Representatives from Pendleside Hospice were present at the store to carry out the ribbon cutting, accompanied by Mayor and Mayoress of Pendle, Councillor Graham Roach and Mrs Joanna Roach.

The charity was nominated by store colleagues as part of B&M’s Local Hero award, which recognises the hard work and dedication of a local individual or charity.

Representatives from the charity received £250 pounds worth of B&M vouchers and were on hand throughout the day to bag pack for the first B&M customers; raising even more money for their cause.

Pendleside Hospice aims to promote and enhance the quality of life for people with a life-limiting illness, their family and their carers.

Joanna Coates, speaking on behalf of the hospice, spoke of their gratitude at the invite.

She said: “We are very grateful and delighted to be selected for opening the new B&M store.

“Our volunteers are bag packing for the new customers and also promoting this year’s Pendleside car raffle.”

The Hospice will be raffling a Mini One car, with the draw to take place at Charter Walk Shopping Centre on Saturday 19th September 2015.

In addition to enhancing the quality of life for the people in their care, the Hospice also delivers specialist and holistic palliative care which addresses their individually assessed physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs.

Laura Brookes, store manager at B&M Colne said: “B&M is committed to recruiting from the local area and I am delighted we’ve found a great team from in and around Colne.

“We’re really proud to have created 30 jobs across the town this year and to play our part in the local community”.

She added: “We are excited to have opened our doors today and honoured to have representatives from Pendleside Hospice cutting the ribbon to officially mark the opening of our new store”.
