Jobs Boost for West Yorkshire Town After B&M Store Opens

30 November 2016

B&M has provided a timely jobs boost in Pontefract with the opening of its latest store.

The variety retailer is one of the fastest growing in the UK and its new Featherstone store has trebled its estate in Pontefract in the last three weeks alone.

B&M’s latest store on Quora Retail Park follows hot on the heels of the Bargains Store & Garden Centre which opened just 3 miles away at Baileygate Retail Park on 11th November. And with 50 jobs created as a result of the new Featherstone site, more than 100 B&M roles have now been filled by local people in the Pontefract and Wakefield area.

Conveniently located on Wakefield Road, the B&M Bargains store will stock a great range of products from grocery and homeware, garden, giftware and much more.

And to help celebrate the occasion, representatives from Pontefract Family Centre were invited by store staff to be part of their special day.

The team at Pontefract Family Centre give people with learning disabilities a safe, stimulating and welcoming place to go.

Their aim to provide as many opportunities as possible their service users to socialise, participate in activities, visit new places, and develop their skills and self-belief

As a thank you for taking part in the opening ceremony, the centre received £250 worth of B&M vouchers.

The store was officially opened by the mayor of Featherstone Town Council, Councillor Steve Vickers who cut the ribbon to declare the new B&M store ‘open’.

Adam Pollock, store manager at B&M Featherstone said: “The team from Pontefract Family Centre really stood out for us as they go the extra mile for the community, we wanted to give them some VIP treatment as a thank you for all their hard work.

“We hope that our donation can help them to continue the great work they do.”

He continued: “The new team have been working really hard to get the store ready for opening day and we can’t wait to get the doors open on Wednesday and show customers their new B&M Featherstone.”
