Tom Cruise Opens new Isle of Wight B&M Store

27 March 2018

There was excitement in the air on the Isle of Wight this morning as Tom Cruise opened a new B&M Store.

Unfortunately for shoppers, it wasn't the A-List celebrity actor, but the new store manager.

The addition to B&M's portfolio in the region comes as a huge boost to the local economy, creating more than 35 jobs for people from the area.

Visitors to the store, on High Street, will be able to browse a wide range of branded and own label goods, including toys, groceries, health & beauty and pet ranges.

As part of the opening celebrations, B&M employees invited local charity, Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary, to be their VIP for the day.

The main aim of the sanctuary is to provide a home for unwanted donkeys. The team look after more than 100 animals in over 60 acres of countryside and have a variety of indoor stables, barns and field shelters to make their lives as comfortable as possible.

They were handed £250 worth of vouchers to spend in-store as a thank you for their hard work in the community, and for opening the new store.

Store Manager, Tom Cruise, said: “It’s always risky business doing things with my name, people on the phone always make a joke.

“It’s been great to open the island’s very first store. The customers are loving it and I feel honoured to have cut the ribbon – this was no mission impossible.”
