Ingredients

  • 500g white bread mix
  • 80g caster sugar
  • 1 large egg (lightly beaten)
  • 125ml warm water
  • 100ml warm milk
  • 300g icing sugar
(Optional sprinkles)

Method

  1. Mix the white bread mix and caster sugar in a bowl
  2. Add the egg milk and water into the dry mix until combined and knead on a lightly floured surface for 5-10 minutes, until a soft dough is formed
  3. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp tea towel and leave in a warm, dry place for 1 hour or until the dough has doubled in size
  4. Knock back the dough (by pressing down on the dough with your fist) and separate into 12 equal sausage shaped pieces
  5. Place the dough onto an oiled baking tray and cover again with a damp tea towel. Leave in a warm, dry place until the dough has doubled in size
  6. Pre-heat the oven at 200C/180C fan assisted and remove the tea towel from the baking tray
  7. Bake the dough for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown and leave to cool on one side
  8. Mix the dough with a little bit of water, until a thick, spreadable paste forms
  9. Dip each finger into the icing sugar paste and top with sprinkles if required
