Ingredients

    For the cake
  • 175g Butter
  • 175g White Caster Sugar
  • 3 Medium Eggs
  • ½ tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 2 ½ tsp Salted Caramel Extract
  • 225g Plain Flour
  • Salt
  • 4 tbsp Milk
  • 10g Cocoa Powder
For the icing
  • Vanilla Frosting
  • Toffee Sauce
  • Chocolate Sprinkles

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C, and allow enough time to heat up well. Line your loaf tin with some greaseproof paper to ensure your cake does not stick.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together both the butter and sugar with an electric whisk. Blend this together until your mixture is pale and fluffy. Next, crack in 3 eggs, and whisk well. Once the egg is combined, then whisk in your vanilla extract.
  3. Add the plain flour and salt into the bowl, then fold it gently until you have a smooth, lump-free mixture.
  4. Divide your smooth cake batter into two portions. I opted for around a ratio of ? and ?.
  5. In the portion with ? of the cake mix, I added in my cocoa powder to form a chocolatey mixture. In the portion with ? of the cake mix, this is where I added the salted caramel extract.
  6. Take large spoonful's of each cake mixture into the prepared loaf tin, alternating to give you your marble effect. Place in the oven and cook for around 50 minutes. The cake should be golden on top, and feel springy to the touch. You can also poke a knife or skewer into the centre to ensure it comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cake to cool for around 20 minutes before icing. Top off with your vanilla frosting, toffee sauce and chocolate sprinkles.
  8. Slice and serve with a cup of tea or coffee, and enjoy!
