These can be a great snack on their own, but they can also be used as the centre of simple midweek meals. You will need:

  • An oven with a grill
  • A baking tray

  • Prep Time: 5 minutes
  • Cook Time: 10 minutes
  • Total Time: 15 minutes

  • Bagels of your choice (half per person for a snack, two or three halves for a full meal)
  • Passata (1 tablespoon per half bagel)
  • Grated cheddar (20g per half bagel)
  • Toppings of your choice!


  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C.
  2. Slice each bagel in half across-ways (you should be left with two “O”s).
  3. Place the bagel halves, cut side up, in your baking tray.
  4. Spread a spoonful of passata over the cut side of each bagel.
  5. Add any extra ingredients.
  6. Sprinkle grated cheddar over the top of each bagel.
  7. Bake the bagels in the oven for around 8 minutes, then transfer them to the grill for 3 minutes, or until the cheese starts to brown.
  8. Serve and enjoy!
