B&M Welcomes in the New Year with Worcester Store Opening

03 February 2017

B&M officially kicked off another year of growth with the opening of its first new store of 2017, in Worcester on Friday.

Based on Bath Road in Broomhall, the opening of the Bargain store has created more than 40 jobs for local people in a welcome boost for the economy.

The former Homebase has undergone a complete internal and external refurbishment, in order to provide a brand new experience for visitors to the store.

As part of B&M’s Local Hero initiative, representatives from St Richard’s Hospice were invited to take part and cut the ribbon.

Each year they give free care and support to around 2,500 patients and family members – helping them towards the best quality of life possible.

St Richard’s also received £250 worth of B&M vouchers as a thank you for taking part and making the day special for all involved.

Also ain attendance at the opening ceremony was the Mayor of Worcester, Councillor Paul Denham, who helped make the day even more memorable.

In an interview with the Worcester News, Councillor Denham spoke of his pleasure at B&M opening in the area.

Councillor Denham said: “It has already created over 40 new jobs, which is good news for people looking for work in Worcester.

“With the expansion of Worcester and thousands of new houses in this area, it give people an extra place to shop.”

Andrew Bradley, store manager at B&M Broomhall, was also extremely delighted that their chosen charity could attend.

Mr Bradley commented: “The team from St Richard’s Hospice really stood out for us as they do so much for the community, we wanted to give them some VIP treatment as a thank you for all the hard work they do.

“The new team have been working really hard to get the store ready for opening day and we couldn’t wait to get the doors open today and show customers their new B&M Broomhall.”
